Its my birthday and I got a doggy and a wormery!

Well, what a strange week or 2 it has been.

Rob has got himself a new job starting next month, and has a week off this week to get some garden jobs done....except we haven't done any yet!!!

The new babies hatched by Buffy are all well and outside in a hutch next to the big chickens and the other babies are out there too now enjoying their freedom.

So that was yesterdays achievements.

I haven't blogged it yet,but we lost our beautiful Springer Spaniel last Sunday when we had all the snow. We all went for a walk in the snow and she went off after a Muntjak deer. We presume she got herself caught up in the barbed wire fence or something as when she eventually came back she was quite badly wounded. We took her to the vets but because of the number of wounds she had and the risk of infection etc (and that it was the 3rd time in less than a year) and that it would probably happen again, we decided that it was best for her to be put to sleep. It was horrible. It took me days to stop crying and I felt guilty all the time even though I know we made the right decision. We decided we wouldn't get another dog for a while. We thought we might do puppy walking for the Blind Dogs when William turns 3, but this weekend, when ALL the men were at Scout camp I felt so terribly alone and vulnerable. I missed having a dog to walk and Rob and I started to look on the internet to find a rescue home to visit to find a suitable canine companion.

And here it is....my birthday present!!! Not a brilliant photo but I will take some more tomorrow. She is lovely...a labrador/German shepherd cross. A very quiet, calm nature that doesn't bat an eye at the cat or most importantly, the chickens!!!

For those of you that remember Sonny, (see previous post Dec 07) you will have noticed a remarkable likeness!!! Her name is Snowy but I think we may change it to Sandy as it is more suited to her colouring.

And my wormery arrived!!!! But no worms :-( I have to send off a voucher to get them. Hmph! Oh well, it will give me a chance to set it up and read the book that came with it!!
